Norma & Sean
RUBY BAY & LADY ANSTRUTHER'S TOWER - with its richly warm-toned sands and imposing tower, this relatively quiet beach makes a truly romantic elopement location. Some couples chose to have their ceremony at the tower itself and there is a hidden location for dramatic photography too!
ELIE LIGHTHOUSE - located close by Lady Anstruther's Tower are the two atmospheric white towers. There is a choice of wedding ceremony location at the lighthouse itself or the stretch of beautiful sands for gorgeous photography. To fully enjoy the sand, it is wise to check the tide-times for your date.
ELIE BEACH - its long expanse of sands gives you scope to have the location of choice. The sands can be quite busy at times, but you should be able to find your own, particular spot. Sometimes, though, you may have be surprised by an unexpected audience who will enjoy your ceremony too!
LOWER LARGO - a favourite Euphoria location, Largo Beach is serene and quieter. There are amazing, red rock formations along the shore. The Crusoe Hotel is located right on the edge of the beach (and can be seen in the right-hand image above.)
LEVEN BEACH - another huge stretch of sand which runs from Leven itself to Silver Sands. Stony banks give way to beautiful, pale sands and endless waves. This beach also tends to be fairly quiet yet is near all the facilities of a town.
RAVENSCRAIG BAY - a small sheltered beach, close to Kirkcaldy, with the large, imposing ruin of Ravenscraig Castle overlooking. An ancient dovecot and lookout tower add to the already romantic, historic atmosphere of this secluded beach. Strange rock formations, around the base of the castle cliff, look like carved wood and make a wonderful, textured background for photographs. The castle, steeped in history, was originally built as a residence for Mary Queen of Scots.
LEGALLY MARRYING IN SCOTLAND:
A number of eloping couples opt to be married at a registry office by one of the experienced registrars . However, we find many couples prefer to be married outdoors, in one of Fife's stunning locations.
For a legal marriage, it is important to contact the registry office nearest your ceremony location. There are four registry offices in Fife; the one nearest the East Neuk locations (shown above) is Cupar Customer Service Centre, County Buildings, St Catherine St, Cupar, KY15 4TA. Here you will find details of all the necessary documents you must provide, including extra documentation required if you are not a U.K. national. Fife's Registrars will travel to your chosen location and offer a personalised ceremony to suit you.
Contact the service centre in good time, but no later than 29 days before your wedding date, to apply for your marriage schedule via M10 form and fill out details of your two witnesses. Since there are two of us, photographing your wedding, we would be thrilled to act as your witnesses for your ceremony if you are having a truly intimate elopement.
The marriage schedule must be collected in person within three days before the wedding and brought with you on the day of the wedding.
